New School Food Guidelines

The new Provincial School Food Guidelines (SFG) have been finalized and are available through the link below and online at the Department of Health and Community Services.

These guidelines have been informed by broad school stakeholder engagement from Regional Health Authorities, districts, schools, school food providers, and the community. The SFG are in effect and implemented in all NLESD schools across the province of Newfoundland and Labrador.

It is also very important for guardians and caregivers to know about the new SFG and to understand why it is important to support a healthy school food environment. Please see the communication links below which includes resources developed for guardians and caregivers:
